’Home Improvement’ stars reunite for show about tools

(WWJ) – “Does everybody know what time it is? Tool Time!”

It’s been 23 years since we last saw sitcom stars Tim Allen and Richard Karn getting nitty gritty in a workshop, but the two ‘Home Improvement’ actors are slated to come back for a new History Channel series aptly named “More Power,” the Detroit Free Press has reported.

The two actors, who played Tim Taylor and Al Borland in the hit comdy’s show-within-a-show “Tool Time,” are ready to rock the workshop once again in the new series slated to air on June 29.

Named for Tim Allen’s iconic catch phrase, “More Power” will feature Allen and Karn as they focus on the history and evolution of “the coolest, most powerful, and iconic examples” of tools and equipment.

The show will also highlight the operators and workers who use the featured tools on the job and in everyday life — in a classic “Tool Time” twist, toolmakers will be invited on the show to make modifications to familiar objects in what the show says will be “mind-blowing” ways.

We have a feeling Karn will resurrect his iconic line, “I don’t think so, Tim,” in this series.

Allen and Karn will be joined by Youtube star April Wilkerson. Wilkerson is known for co-hosting a previous History Channel series with the duo in a reality competition show “Assembly Required” back in 2021.

Show runners said the series will be set in Allen’s very own workshop.

The iconic sitcom “Home Improvement” ran for nine years in the nineties. The Detroit Free Press recently named the series as the top TV show set in Michigan after a vote from their readers.

Allen spent his early years growing up in Birmingham, Mich. where he says he discovered his love of cars, the Detroit History Society outlined. He attended Central Michigan University before transferring to Western Michigan University where he graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications and a minor in philosophy and design.

Allen made the location of “Home Improvement” in the Detroit area and was often seen wearing Detroit Lion’s gear on the show.
